What is socialism, even in the ideal, if not state-enforced charity?
1“Beware of practicing your righteousness before other people in order to be seen by them, for then you will have no reward from your Father who is in heaven.
2“Thus, when you give to the needy, sound no trumpet before you, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may be praised by others. Truly, I say to you, they have received their reward. 3But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, 4so that your giving may be in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you.
Is not this a direct injunction directly from the mouth of our lord against socialism?
With socialism, not only does our left hand know what our right is doing, but so does half the government.
Forced charity, forced humility, is worthy of no accolades.
Less cussing, Moore Logic lol

Well, I’m not sure of the point, but I honestly don’t see much difference between Trump and Sanders. Bernie wants everyone to get along, while Trump wants everyone to straighten up and toughen up, but both are promising more government meddling in our personal lives. For Bernie, I don’t know how to point to anything worthwhile. He is scarier than anyone admits. For Trump, we isn’t nearly as scary as some seem to think.
As to HDR, that liar is the one to prepare against. She will use our young people in the military for anything she thinks she needs, because, well, she is a user, and with her lying skills, she might even get praised for it.
I just happened to notice the comment button above, where I can make a comment and not have to log in, but my comment was rather personal so I decided to still just email you.
Interesting, I had never thought of that verse in that light. Did you ever discuss this with Dad? I wonder how he would have responded to your reasoning with regards to this “one of his favorite” verses. I wonder if he could see past the veil of progressivism and Roosevelt’s deals to see how much our government’s leanings toward socialism went against this scripture he held to so devoutly when it came to not praying in public.
Hmm. I wonder. I also wish I had felt like I could have discussed more things like this – without him getting upset with me for my youthful naivety or brashness as he saw it. I think he felt like I did not think through things logically enough for him or something and so when we would go to discuss it, we both butted hits with our stubbornness to listen to the other’s ideas or viewpoints.
