I saw this on Facebook and was flabbergasted. I started to scroll past, but too dumb. Had to says so.

I started to move on, but couldn’t. This is simply mean and exploitive. Fortunately, most of those exploited can afford it. Dumb green westerners might learn from having their money taken from them.

However, there are kids that need reliable power and inexpensive fuel in their communities, and feel-good nonsense is what they get.

Here is what I posted on Facebook:

I’m reluctant to share this. I honestly cannot believe it. It is what green-addled minds think “makes a difference.” As soccer balls, they cost $100. Ouch. As flashlights, I think a single buck a the dollar store will get you as much portable light.

How long might the battery last? Three years max. How long will the soccer ball itself last, maybe a year?

The 50,000 claimed as sold would be $5,000,000 ($100 x 50,000). Somebody got rich, and some poor families got rooked.

Hand-crank generators capable of charging electronics can be had for $9. Of course, those don’t last long either, but at least it is a real solution for a real need, unlike an expensive soccer ball marketed as “renewable energy”.

A sucker really is born every minute, and thank God for all the rich fools so willing to part with their money.

Still, there are people who need power, and it is not only harmful, but insulting to placate them with such drivel.

Relevant Magazine should be ashamed.

I availed myself of an opportunity to see Ray Comfort’s video. It was worse than I could imagine. What bothered me most was that while he shoved microphones up people’s noses and badgered and bullied them, the Christians watching tended to cheer. So sad.

I suppose that many in that room felt they had been bullied, either for their antievolutionary views, or more generically for just being Christian, but when you can make PZ Myers look like a generally good guy, better than you make yourself look, you have failed.

We teach our children not to bully. We teach them not to cheer on the perpetrator when someone pays back the bully or other generally bad children. We teach our children to repay good for evil, as our Lord taught us. We teach our children to walk in love and to go the extra mile, even to turn the other cheek. The adults in the room watching Ray Comfort badger and bully people seemed to have forgotten that, or that it should apply doubly to them as teachers, those to whom much has been entrusted.

I viewed the video as an utter failure in all regards. It seems impossible, but I assume Comfort thought he was doing something akin to evangelism in the making of the film and the derogatory treatment of his victims both in person and in the cutting room.

One can only guess how many people simply walked away when approached by Comfort, being treated so rudely. One can only wonder how many people gave more cogent answers, or how many became obviously terrified. How many people were interviewed who did not give answers that fit the narrative Comfort cobbled together?

There was no truth, no honesty, and no compassion in the video. Are those who condone the video simply saying all is fair in love and war? If so, they got the war part right. The interviews were essentially hit and run warfare on the unsuspecting people attacked in the video. Perhaps they assert they are making war on us, so we must make war on them. However, I again remember our Lord telling us to love those who persecute us.

I tried to Google search for anyone else calling Comfort a bully. I’m disappointed that I couldn’t find any.

I agree with this article.

I really think it wise to recall a song from one of the legends of country music, Marijohn Wilkin, and her song God is Love.

http://www.valentinemusic.co.uk/home/music/marijohn-wilkin-buckhorn-music/marijohn-wilkin-buckhorn-music-tracks (scroll down a bit)

The opening lines are the point. The fire-and-brimstone preacher seems to always forget that God is Love!

1If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal. 2And if I have prophetic powers, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have all faith, so as to remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. 3If I give away all I have, and if I deliver up my body to be burned,a but have not love, I gain nothing.

4Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant 5or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful;b 6it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth7Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.

I don’t think I find any of this in Comfort’s video, especially what I underlined.

Over at AmericanThinker, Thomas Lifson comments on some absurd propaganda.

It would be somewhat humorous if there were any possibility it was supposed to be, satire, hyperbole, and such, but no, they (at least Oleg) really seem to think people will accept such drivel. Sadly, some will.

Anthony Watts rightly makes fun of the Mann-child and the Lewandowskyites here, http://wattsupwiththat.com/2013/11/01/mann-and-lewandowsky-go-psychotic-on-skeptics/

Anthony correctly states that the alarmists are losing the argument so they are now trying to suppress dissent. (Not new, actually. It has been part of their tactics from the beginning.)

Anthony correctly points out that this is the tactic the soviets used where they asserted that only crazy people would disagree with them, so those who disagree must be locked away and medicated into oblivion and silence.

I agree with Anthony that the likes of Mann and Lew need professional counseling and help. If they are not yet dangerous to themselves or others, they are likely to be soon. They really seem to need help. The paper sited is truly sad. Emotionalism, not science.  Read the rest of this entry »

So unbelievable! How could rational humans living today depict themselves burning books? Doesn’t this provide sufficient evidence that the alarmist cause is radical, dogmatic, religious and ideological hysteria of the worst type, the murderous, genocidal type? This really is case-closed for anyone who has not already drunk deeply of the kool-aid.

Watts Up With That?

From the Fahrenheit 451 department comes this indictment of California’s higher education’s “tolerance” for opposing views. When I first got the tip on this, I thought to myself “nobody can be this stupid to photograph themselves doing this” but, here they are, right from the San Jose State University Meteorology Department web page:

SJSU_bookfire

The caption from the SJSU website reads:

This week we received a deluge of free books from the Heartland Institute {this or this }. The book is entitled “The Mad, Mad, Made World of Climatism”. SHown above, Drs. Bridger and Clements test the flammability of the book.

Maybe they just can’t help themselves, note the pictures on the wall.

Ms. Laframboise is just good at this. (Covered in multiple outlets, but this one says it best and with class.)

Big Picture News, Informed Analysis

A resolution before the US Congress implies that global warming will increase prostitution. Cole Porter disagrees.

hear Ella Fitzgerald sing Cole Porter’s ‘Too Darn Hot’

John Brignell maintains a very long online list of things that are being blamed on global warming. Absurdities abound.

According to a Loch Ness monster hunter, Nessie may be one of its victims. The New Scientisttells us that climate change might make fish deaf. The Times of Indiareports that basmati rice may become less fragrant. Reuters quotes a Japanese politician saying that the final Olympic games may be those held in 2016, since global warming poses “an immediate threat to mankind.”

In other words, global warming is analogous to a Rorschach test. Whatever reasons an individual provides for being concerned reveals far more about their own assumptions and preoccupations than it does about the climate.

Congresswoman Barbara Lee now wants the…

Not that my reblogging will add, but this is worthwhile. Warning–the true-believers in human-caused climate catastrophism extol violence and wax offensive with obscene words quoted herein. You can handle it; you might even want to pray for them, as Jesus told us to pray for our enemies and those who despitefully use us. The global-warming meme has gone off the rails. Gore seems to be lying low, the politicians all around seem to have given up on it, except of course “The Dear Leader” and his calls for FORWARD into subservience to the almighty STATE (aka Federal Bureaucracy). Still, the last of the advocates have more than money at stake. They will have to admit they were wrong if they let up. One should always remember that it is better to be corrected than to remain wrong.

Watts Up With That?

I posted this on the Daily Lew Issue 5 as an update, but I decided it was so telling of the state of mind for the SkS crowd that it needed its own separate post. This also happens to be post 7000 on WUWT.

I had pretty much ignored the SkS forum dump when it was happening, thinking that perhaps they were being treated unfairly, but since John Cook has gone a bridge too far now with this Lewandowsky “moon landing survey” mess and his association with it, I no longer feel the need to hold back on what is going on behind the scenes over there.

Here is Glenn Tamblyn (Skeptical Science author/moderator) secretly conversing with his SkS pals on their off limits forum and saying “we need a conspiracy to save humanity”. The Viet Cong comparison is a nice touch too. There’s talk of convening a “war…
